This is the artist at work on a vacation and, below right, considering his next project over a fine liqueur. As an artist Stewart is always working, selecting images, planning paintings.
Stewart first showed an ability to paint and draw as a child and went on to art at a graduate and post graduate level attending Avery Hill, Morley and Goldsmiths’ Colleges. He has painted consistently and exhibited occasionally, most recently at Foyles Gallery London and the Paul McPherson gallery in Greenwich. He discovered a talent for stone carving whilst on holiday in Worth Matravers in Dorset in recent years.
Stewart recently did a series of pictures of Wren churches nestled amongst the skyscrapers of the City Of London. A London resident all his life (though with Paris as a close rival for his affections), he remains fascinated by the jumbled architecture of the city and the orderly chaos of everyday life there. Now firmly in his 7th decade, Stewart continues to experiment with new techniques and to paint what interests him: his home, his family and the landscape - whether in Wiltshire or Marrakesh.
